Hello balto mountain When steele and Balto get into the fight and balto wins and goes off to get back to nome Why did steele want the glory? The point was to get the medicine back to nome not Try to be a Hero and have people drool over you

because he was used to be always the winner and have all the attention, he was too proud to go back to nome and watch balto have the glory or even share it with him

Well, that's just how Steel is. A selfish, popular dog. Like Nobu said, he's used to the limelight. Besides, having a wolf stranger bring the medicine would make Steel look pretty bad.
